David McDonald’s Role in Transforming the Food Industry

David McDonald is the current President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of OSI Group, a leading international supplier of food services and retail to brands. According to David, the company is strategically positioned to have a global network. It has branches in 17 countries with approximately 65 facilities and 20, 000 employees whose main focus is to ensure clients contentment in accessibility to quality food products which are customized to fit the customer’s needs.

David attended Lowa State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. He joined OSI three decades ago. His determination and great urge to succeed enabled him to rise through the ranks and is currently the president. The OSI Group was hired to supply more than 100 tons of assorted food products to China during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The company was highly appreciated for impeccable services, thus increasing the rating for McDonald. The 2016 global sustainability report released by OSI showed significant progress on the supply chain, social, and environmental responsibility during the 2016/2017 period.

David McDonald OSI Group has done a lot to improve the sustainability of OSI Group. He was the first person to suggest a location in China. With the many businesses in China, he knew that the company needed a sustainable source for those businesses. David had noticed that it was not realistic to continue shipping from other locations. The distribution factory in China will serve the purpose of providing everything the country and restaurants require.

The OSI Group acquired Baho food Company, a Dutch based company that manufactures foods, snacks, and deli meats. According to David McDonald, the acquisition will help to increase the market presence of the company in Europe and also in serving the ever-changing client needs. OSI Group has operated in China for more than two decades since its start-up in Beijing in 1992. OSI China has supplied products to prominent brands like Papa John’s, Yum, Starbucks, Burger King, Subway, and McDonald’s.
