OSI Group is one of the world’s leading food processing firms. Based just outside of Chicago, Illinois in Aurora, it is a privately held company that went from being a domestic company in the 1970s to one that now has operations all over the world. Sheldon Lavin bought a large share of OSI Group in the 1970s when he became the company’s chief executive officer. Long ago he bought out the other partners so now he fully owns it. His second in command in David McDonald who grew up on an Iowa farm and earned a degree in animal husbandry. He joined the firm in the 1980s fresh out of college and worked his way up the ladder until he is now the president and chief operating officer. Rounding out the top executives is Bill Weimer who is the executive vice president and chief financial officer.
OSI Group has food processing facilities in a number of American states. This includes Illinois, California, Wisconsin, and Utah. They have over 65 facilities in total throughout the world including in the United Kingdom, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, India, China, and other Asian nations. They added a number of facilities in 2016 when they bought Flagship Europe, a UK company, and Baho Foods which was in Western Europe.
At OSI Group they mainly process protein-based food like beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. They have expanded their roster over the years and also now offer things like vegetables, fruits, marinades, condiments, sauces, and spreads.
