Sameer Jejurikar On Cosmetic Surgery vs Plastic Surgery

Sameer Jejurikar has been practicing for more than 21 years and as a result became an important name in the plastic surgery field in Dallas, Texas. He has worked for Dallas Day Surgery Center, Baylor Medical Center, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, and Forrest Park Medical Center throughout the Dallas area. As a result of his work he earned a reputation as a member of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. Sameer Jejurikar attended the University of Michigan, where he received his degree. His research made it into various medical journals, such as Annals of Plastic Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Microsurgery, and many others. His number one priority is making plastic surgery safer.

Mr. Jejurikar noted that it is important for both professional and the public to understand the differences between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery. He mentions that individuals should pick physicians carefully, being wary of cosmetic surgeons who are not trained properly. The training necessary to become a cosmetic surgeon is not as rigorous as the training required to become a plastic surgeon. His advice is for patients to be informed about the surgeon and the procedure, in order to avoid complications.

He specialized in aesthetic surgery while at Manhattan Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, performing his residency. He notes that in order to become an excellent plastic surgeon, studying incredibly hard is a necessity. The first 10,000 hours spent practicing and honing his surgical skills got him to where he is today. While he does declare that as a result of spending so much time dedicated to his craft made him miss important moments in his children’s lives, he mentions that he wouldn’t be very good at his career if he hadn’t gone through the grueling initial years of training, spending a hundred hours per week in the hospital.
