The Academy of Art University held its 21st runway showcase at the Skylight Clarkson Square on September 9, 2017. The showcase featured collection form BFA and MFA graduates and debuted menswear and womenswear collections.
The diverse backgrounds of the designers showed through the unique collections and included a wide range of techniques, colors, textures, and designs. Endless hours of classes, workshops,and internships have gone into the 15 minutes on the runway.
The Academy of Art University is preparing the talent of today for a career in the world of art and creation of tomorrow. The Academy maintains an inclusive admissions policy for everyone who wishes to attend.
Hailun Zhou, a designer from Qing Dao, China, used unique media such as vinyl and PVC to create her fashions. Eden Slezin used organic denim and even recycled bike tubes to incorporate into her fashion pieces. Dina Marie Lam, a designer form Los Angeles, California, incorporated her feelings when her aunt passed away into her work. Carlos Rodriguez used beautiful embroidery details in his collection and Saya Shen was inspired by the trees and ocean waves of San Francisco and the snow forms of Hokkaido.
The Academy of Art University teaches a disciplined approach to study and encourages its students to draw on their inspiration to create one-of-a-kind creations that reflect their personalities and experiences.
Joanna Jadallah was inspired by her ancestors,and Cana Kledanoff was inspired by the armor of a Japanese samurai. Ryan Yu, form China, was inspired by light and philosophy. Jelly Shan created pieces inspired by the feeling of peace and joy.
The Academy of Art University offers full and part-time studies and employs trained and experienced educators to teach their students. The Academy provides a very creative environment in which to foster and grow creative talents. The Academy offers a supportive and challenging environment in which to learn and foster the talent of their students as well.
